How do I get to the configuration-page?

Login as a super-administrator and go to any Pages-and-items admin page. In the left column, above the menu-tree(s) you the the link 'configuration'. Click that and you're on the configuration-page.

What does the mambot/plugin do?

The mambot/plugin:

  • Hides the item-title in category-blog view, if you unticked the box at 'Show title:'.
  • Allows you to use other item-types then the default text-and-images and the HTML-itemtype (which is fully integrated in Pages-and-Items).

How to really hide item titles?

In page-and-Items you have the option to hide the title. This will take the title out of its containing tag, but can not prevent Joomla from outputting the empty tag on the page.

Here is a workaround with CSS.

Why youtube as an itemtype if you can use the HTML-itemtype?

Because:

  • If you are using Admin-User-Access, you can give admin users rights to specific item-types. So if you want to allow a admin-user to put a youtube video on the site, but don't want that user to insert any other kind of HTML (or javascript or CSS), you can use this itemtype.
  • It is more userfriendly.
  • It allows using different sizes of video's.

My poll or form does not submit. Why?

Check if the poll or any form is shown twice on the same page. That can cause trouble submitting things because of the double id's.

The only solution is to hide of of them.

yes and no. At the moment this does not work in Joomla 1.5.x due to a bug in Joomla.

FAQ's itemtype image-gallery

Can I edit the code?

Yes you can.

I made this particular itemtype more for the development of the framework and as an example-Pages-and-Items-plugin, then for an actual itemtype to be used in production-sites.

This component (com_pi_itemtype_image_gallery) is licenced under the GPL.

For this itemtype (and this itemtype only!) you are allowed to fork this project any way you want. I hope others will pick this up and create different frontend's, so not just that popup. I guess the backend can also be improved, so go ahead and let me know
