Go to:
'extensions' > 'module manager'
then select the location filter to 'administrator' to see the backend modules.

Thanks for your quick reply, however i must be really dumb.
I typed location in the Filter and did a search and there are "no modules matching your query"
Do you have any instructions I can follow?
kind regards
john

Thanks again for your reply.
However the 'logged-in-users' does not show on the 'extensions' > 'module manager' page at all.
Although when I go to the 'extensions' > 'Manage' I can see it.
Logged in users Administrator Module 1.0.0 december 2011 Carsten Engel N/A 834
What do I do now/

1. Go to: 'extensions' > 'module manager'. you are now in the module manager.
2. in the filter 'Site / Administrator' select 'Administrator' to see the backend modules.
3. in the list of those modules, find 'Logged in users' (NOT 'Logged-in Users' which is the Joomla module)
4. publish the module to position 'status'.
